Different Types of Change

Change can be a difficult process, but it's also a necessary one for personal growth and development.

There are four main reasons why people make substantial life changes, and understanding them can help us better navigate our own transformational journeys.

The first reason is reactive change.

This type of change is a response to a life event that has pushed someone into a situation where they have to change.

It could be a recent disruption that has made them reconsider what they believe or who they are.

They need to find a way to accommodate these changes and adapt to their new circumstances.

The second reason is proactive change.

In this case, people want to change but don't know how to do it on their own.

They may feel stuck and frustrated with their current situation, or they want to prepare for a future life event that's on the horizon.

The third reason is away change.

This is when people seek help because the consequences of not changing are too high.

They're at a breaking point and know they need someone to keep them accountable.

The fourth and final reason is transformative change.

This type of change is driven by a desire for higher meaning, purpose, fulfillment, and self-determination.

People may be deeply unsatisfied with their lives and have a burning desire to do something different.

They know that life is meant to be more, but they may not be sure what that looks like yet.

Understanding why people change can help us better navigate our own transformational journeys.

Whether we're going through a reactive change or seeking transformative change, having a growth mindset can help us adapt to new circumstances and pursue our goals.
